Our Story & Philosophy

Lucira was born from a simple belief: home décor should not just look beautiful — it should feel intentional and responsible. We saw an opportunity in 3D printing to create pieces that are unique, clean in design, and built with as little waste as possible.

We design each item with both form and function in mind — sculptural lights, decorative objects, and ambient accents that cast soft shadows, emphasize texture, and add warmth to interiors. Our tagline, “bringing light and beauty into the home,” isn’t just poetic — it’s a guiding philosophy. Every piece aims to do just that.

Why 3D Printing & Modern Design

Traditional manufacturing often demands wholesale runs, molds, and large stock inventories — all of which can generate waste, limit flexibility, or force compromises in design. In contrast, 3D printing (additive manufacturing) allows us to:

• Build each object layer by layer, using exactly the material needed

• Iterate designs rapidly and explore complex geometries that would be difficult or expensive otherwise

• Offer custom tweaks (size, orientation, finish) where feasible

• Operate on a made-to-order basis, reducing stock overage and waste

We use PLA (a plant-based polymer) as our primary material. PLA lets us work with a cleaner, non-toxic, and renewable base, which fits our values of sustainability. (You can read more about PLA and our materials on our Environmentally Conscious Materials page.)
